CAHS participated as a vendor in Baton Rouge Community College’s “Mind Matters: Breaking the Silence” event, held Sept. 19 at the college’s Acadian campus in Baton Rouge.
The event, sponsored by The W Consulting Group, offered 150 students from GEO Prep and BRCC an opportunity to learn more about mental health through testimonials, panel discussions, and interactive activities.
CAHS’ Prevention Coordinator Ricki Davis Robinson, and Social Services Counselor Rosalyn Davis, PLPC, CCGC, CAC, provided resources and information that emphasized the importance of support in the areas of mental health, substance use, and overall wellness.
Special guest East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sid “Coach” Edwards joined the gathering, lending his voice to the importance of breaking the silence around mental health.
The day also featured plenty of door prizes, giveaways, and four $250 scholarship awards—two for high school students and two for current BRCC students.
