Members of CAHS’ ‘Prevention and Wellness Team participated in the “Geaux Baby and Me” Community Baby Shower and Resource Fair, held Sept. 26, at Bains Lower Elementary School in St. Francisville.
The event provided an opportunity for expectant parents and families to connect with valuable resources, support services, and information designed to promote healthy families and safe environments for children. Participants played games where they won baby formula, diaper bags and other baby items.
CAHS Program Monitor Tamara Jones, MA-LPP, and Prevention Coordinator Alicia Richbourg, PSIT, provided attendees with Baby’s First Books, along with educational resources covering bottle-feeding, Shaken Baby Syndrome prevention, and home safety checklists to help parents and caregivers create a safe and nurturing environment for their children.
Jones and Richbourg also shared information about CAHS services and available community resources, as well as prevention education addressing the dangers of fentanyl and the warning signs of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use. Attendees also received information about the national 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and guidance about when to seek crisis support.
