Members of CAHS’ Prevention Team represented the agency at the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day event, held April 26 at the Baton Rouge Police Department headquarters on Airline Highway.
CAHS Program Monitor Supervisor Yolanda Yancy, RPP, and Program Monitor Tamara Jones, PSIT, provided information about medication safety as part of CAHS’ “Be a Hero, Get to Zero” campaign, and talked about the dangers of opioids, fentanyl, and other drugs.
The event, sponsored by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, allowed individuals to drive through and anonymously dispose of unused, unneeded, or expired medications — preventing the opportunity for medications to be misused by others.
Free boxes of Narcan, the life-saving opioid overdose medication, also were available. Other participating organizations included Louisiana Blue and the Zachary Fire Department.
