Families in the region enjoyed “Plugged In – A Community Resource Fair,” held Sept. 12 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Baton Rouge and presented by the organization called 2 The People.
The free event was designed to support families at various stages of parenting, particularly those expecting their first child to those raising teenagers. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in skill-building workshops and to connect with valuable community resources that were focused on parenting, health, childcare, education, and more.
CAHS Program Monitor Supervisor Yolanda Yancy, RPP, and Prevention Coordinator Alicia Richbourg, PSIT, informed attendees about CAHS’ various services and provided helpful information about the dangers of vaping, binge drinking, and fentanyl.
The CAHS pair also provided charts to help individuals keep track of their medications and distributed free kits of Narcan, the medication that reverses the deadly effects of overdoses from opioids.
