CAHS’ Prevention and Wellness Division held the fifth installment of its community awareness campaign, “Project Sticker Shock,” on March 18 at the Rouses Market, 5909 Florida Blvd, in Baton Rouge.
This campaign warns of criminal penalties, including jail, fines, and loss of driver’s license, for adults who purchase alcohol for persons under 21 years of age.

The Prevention and Wellness team partnered with students from Broadmoor and Istrouma high schools who placed warning stickers and window clings on coolers and shelves where alcoholic beverages are sold.
CAHS General Counsel Dawn Collins, who coordinates the “Sticker Shock” project, talked at the event about the issues associated with youth drinking alcohol and the legal consequences of adults purchasing alcohol for minors.
The students were urged to use their influence to spread a unified message among their peers and family members about the dangers of drinking and purchasing alcohol for minors.
CAHS appreciates the strong support and participation of the following persons and agencies:
- ICARE Specialists Dr. Susan Thornton, Latosha Mitchell, Jennifer Degruise, Candita Belona, Antoinette Givan, Pete Jory, and Trinita Smith
- Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control Director Joseph McRae
