Members of CAHS’ Prevention Team participated in the Mirror of Grace – Parenting Wisely Back to School event, held Aug. 2 at the Huntington Bank branch located at 8031 Airline Highway in Baton Rouge.
Excited to receive school supplies, backpacks and other essentials needed for this school year, more than 150 adults and children attended. Everyone enjoyed music, food, games, snowballs, raffle prizes and resource tables staffed by various agencies and organizations whose primary focus is helping families.
CAHS Wellness and Prevention Director Bridget Lewis, LPP and Prevention Coordinator Alicia Richbourg, PSIT, visited with attendees about the various services CAHS offers for families and children, and they shared information about the dangers of opioid misuse and about the national 988 crisis hotline.
Lewis and Richbourg also distributed “Emoji Drug Decoded” pamphlets, designed to educate parents about how various emojis are being used in secret drug code as slang and as descriptors of drugs such as Oxycodone, Xanax, Percocet, Adderall and others.
