CAHS’ Prevention and Wellness Services team celebrated another successful “Driving Into Recovery” event, June 8, in Port Allen at the city’s pavilion.
Nearly 25 community vendors participated and provided services to more than 100 area residents during the three-hour event.
Attendees drove through in the comfort of their vehicles to receive food boxes, children’s diapers, and information about mental and physical health, substance misuse, prevention, and addiction recovery.
The CAHS team also distributed kits of Narcan, the opioid overdose-reversal medication.
We appreciate the following sponsors of the event:

- City of Port Allen
- Coca-Cola Bottling Company
- West Baton Rouge Parish Fire Department
- Priority Care
- WellCare
- Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank
CAHS is in its fourth round of delivering Driving Into Recovery events to bring substance misuse and recovery education to the agency’s seven-parish region.
The Driving Into Recovery initiative began in December 2021, and events have been held in Baker, Baton Rouge, Plaquemine, Donaldsonville, Port Allen, New Roads, St. Francisville, and Clinton.
