Executive Director Jan Laughinghouse, PhD, LCSW-BACS, LAC, CCS, represented CAHS at the Park Forest Neighbor Day, held April 13 at Park Forest Middle School in Baton Rouge.
The event, presented by both the Park Forest Crime Prevention & Improvement District and the Park Forest Community Association, featured live music, free food, a bouncy house for children, the parish library’s bookmobile, and more.
State Representative Vanessa LaFleur invited Dr. Laughinghouse to attend the event that included other prominent elected officials: Louisiana State Senator Regina Barrow, Louisiana State Representative C. Denise Marcelle, East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome, and EBR Metropolitan Council members Darryl Hurst and Cleve Dunn, Jr.
Dr. Laughinghouse distributed CAHS promotional items and shared information about behavioral health services for adults, children, and adolescents, including School Based Behavioral Health, treatment for substance use disorders, problem gambling treatment, psychiatric services, grief recovery groups, and the CAHS ASCEND program for children who have autism spectrum disorder.
She also spoke with the 100 attendees about the community engagement activities of CAHS’ Prevention and Wellness team and about accessing developmental disabilities services.
Vendors were Morris Anderson State Farm Insurance, KW Lab & Insurance Services, Rosalind Campbell Allstate Insurance, Safe Hopeful Healthy BR, the Mayor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (MOHSEP), and Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.
Additional vendors were the Baton Rouge Recreation and Park Commission (BREC), East Baton Rouge Mosquito Abatement & Rodent Control, Baton Rouge Police Department, Louisiana State Police, Baton Rouge Fire Department, AARP, and the East Baton Rouge Parish Library.
