CAHS joined forces on Nov. 18 with the Louisiana Department of Health and other area supports for the Men’s Health Expo 2023 event, held at the Louisiana Leadership Institute on Hooper Road in Baton Rouge.
More than 200 men participated in the four-hour event that focused on the importance of early cancer detection, cardiovascular disease and other men’s health topics.
Interactive sessions included flu, COVID and Mpox vaccinations, healthy snack demonstrations, a “Get Fit in 20 Minutes” workout session, complimentary haircuts, massages, and much more.
CAHS was an exhibitor at the event and treated participants to a chance to spin the prize wheel while providing information about the harmful effects of vaping, opioids, suicide prevention and alcohol abuse.
“I’m going to share everything you’ve provided about vaping with my son and brother,” said one attendee. “I want them to know the truth about what is in those vapes. They’re more harmful than cigarettes.”
Special thanks to CAHS Executive Director Dr. Janzlean Laughinghouse and CAHS Director of Prevention and Wellness Services for coordinating CAHS’ participation.
