CAHS’s Prevention Team partnered with the Southern University Police Department to conduct a Narcan training on March 19 for campus law enforcement personnel.
CAHS Prevention Coordinators Alicia Richbourg, PSIT, and Ricki Davis Robinson, PSIT, joined Social Service Counselor Rosalyn Davis, PLPC, CCGC, CAC, to facilitate the training session for 24 Southern University police officers.
The training focused on increasing awareness about opioid overdoses, recognizing the signs and symptoms of an overdose, and properly administering Narcan to reverse the deadly effects of opioids during an overdose.
Officers also were educated about the importance of timely intervention, harm reduction strategies, and connecting individuals to treatment and recovery resources.
The collaboration was part of an ongoing commitment between CAHS and Southern University to enhance public safety and equip first responders with life-saving tools and knowledge.
By empowering law enforcement with Narcan training, the initiative helps strengthen community response efforts and supports the prevention of opioid-related fatalities within the campus and surrounding community.
