We extend our best wishes and deepest thanks to Psychiatrist Andrew Calhoun, MD, (pictured above, center) upon his retirement in July after nearly eight years of service with CAHS and 23 years with the State of Louisiana.
CAHS Executive Director Jan Laughinghouse, PhD, LCSW-BACS, LAC, praised Dr. Calhoun’s “legacy of work,” which included laying the foundation of CAHS’ Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program by helping draft the policies, procedures, and protocols.
“Long after his retirement, the people we serve will benefit from Dr. Calhoun’s clinical expertise when they seek treatment for substance use disorders. I will miss his wry wit (and deadpan delivery) and wish him well on his retirement,” said Dr. Laughinghouse.
CAHS Medical Director Aniedi Udofa, MD, DABPN, DFAPA, who met Dr. Calhoun in 2002, said, “I was glad when he agreed to move to CAHS where he served as an amazing colleague and served on our Medical Staff Organization,” said Dr. Udofa. “His experience in both addiction recovery and general psychiatry served our clients and clinics well, especially in Addiction Recovery Services.”
In addition to his work and wit, Dr. Calhoun was quite the chef, winning CAHS’ Annual Taste Fest awards as Top Chef in 2015 and Top Pastry Chef in 2016.
