Representatives of CAHS’ Prevention and Wellness Division participated in the Bee Healthy 100 Community Health Fair, sponsored by the Metropolitan Baton Rouge Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Ochsner Community Health, and Greater King David Baptist Church, which hosted the event on April 20.
The fair included presentations about health education, healthcare services, vaccines, and more. CAHS’ staff informed attendees about the agency’s services, made referrals to behavioral health services and gambling treatment, distributed promotional materials about Alcohol Awareness Month, and raised awareness about the danger of underage drinking, fentanyl, and vaping.
The CAHS team also talked with attendees about free educational presentations, including trainings about Narcan, the life-saving medication that reverses the deadly effects of overdoses from opioids.
