During the month of August, CAHS staff members conducted three Narcan trainings in partnership with the Capital Area Reentry Program (Aug. 12), O’Brien House (Aug. 18), and the Iberville Parish Behavioral Health Program (Aug. 26).
The educational sessions were designed to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to recognize and effectively respond to potential opioid overdoses.
Staffing the trainings from CAHS were Social Service Counselor Rosalyn Davis, and Prevention Coordinators Alicia Richbourg, PSIT, and Ricki Davis Robinson PSIT.

The trio distributed free kits of Narcan and conducted hands-on demonstrations about the proper administration of the life-saving medication that reverses the effects of overdoses from opioids.
Participants also learned how to recognize the signs and symptoms of overdoses, when to administer Narcan, and appropriate steps to take when responding to an overdose emergency.
The trainings highlight CAHS’ continued commitment to prevention, education, community partnerships, and expanding access to life-saving resources. By equipping individuals with practical knowledge and tools, CAHS and its community partners are strengthening overdose response efforts while promoting safer, healthier communities in the region.
