Capital Area Human Services (CAHS) proudly hosted its “Driving Into Recovery” event, Sept. 27, at the Gonzales Civic Center, where scores of individuals and families drove through to receive information about substance misuse prevention and recovery from addiction.
CAHS was represented by a large team, led by Executive Director Jan Laughinghouse, PhD, LCSW-BACS, LAC, CCS; Deputy Director, Shaketha Carter, MSA; and Prevention & Wellness Director Bridget Lewis, MS-LPP.
Additional Prevention and Wellness staff included Program Monitor Supervisor Yolanda Yancy, RPP; Program Monitor Tamara Jones, PSIT; and Prevention Coordinators Alicia Richbourg, PSIT; and Ricki Davis-Robinson, PSIT.
Also helping staff the event were CAHS Social Services Counselors Rosalyn Davis, PLPC, CCGC, CAC, and Treniece Landry Hills, MA, CAC; and Community Service Professional LaTonya Wilcox.
Special thanks to Gonzales Mayor Timothy “Tim” Riley and the City of Gonzales for hosting the successful event, along with these partner organizations who made the event possible: Donaldsonville District of Louisiana Probation and Parole, Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Ascension Parish Reentry Coalition, The Life House University, Priority Care, and Robin Bennett.
CAHS created the Driving Into Recovery initiative in 2021 to raise awareness about recovery from substance misuse. The program connects individuals and families with vital resources that include health screenings, wellness education, and kits of Narcan, the life-saving medication that reverses the effects of overdoses from opioids.
