CAHS news, July-August 2020

July 1, 2020

In this edition of CAHS Connects, we outline the issues facing women and children and provide information about the variety of programs CAHS offers to help women and children in our region.

In 2017, nearly 16 million women in the United States and more than one-in-four Louisiana children lived in poverty. Poverty is a risk factor for substance abuse, domestic violence and other problems in our society.

“Trauma has biological, psychological, and social effects that impact women and children negatively. In this issue, we have highlighted resources that provide support to women and children and help them to navigate the challenges that they face daily,” says Capital Area Human Services Interim Executive Director Jan Laughinghouse, PhD, LCSW-BACS.
