CAHS’ Prevention Team participated in the April 30 “Drug Take Back Day,” hosted by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and held at the Baton Rouge Police Department’s headquarters on Airline Hwy.
CAHS staff provided educational materials and drug disposal bags to attendees who drove through and dropped off old medications. The team also distributed “Be A Hero, Get To Zero” medication safety campaign materials that encourage families to rid their cabinets of unused or expired prescription medications that could be stolen and sold illegally.
The DEA hosts the event twice each year to help decrease the number of prescription drugs that wind up on the streets for illegal use.
