“Work the plan” to prevent overdoses

February 18, 2022

At a Feb. 17 news conference, hosted by Baton Rouge Police Chief Murphy Paul, CAHS Executive Director Jan Laughinghouse, PhD, LCSW-BACS, LAC, called for a unified front to prevent opioid overdoses and urged agencies to “work the plan,” referring to CAHS’ 2018 comprehensive plan to prevent opioid misuse. Also at the news conference, EBR Parish Coroner Beau Clark, MD, said more than 300 people died from fentanyl-laced drug overdoses last year.
