Prevention Coordinators Dawn Collins and Alicia Richbourg were excited to relaunch “Recovery Sunday” events on April 28 at the Donaldson Chapel Baptist Church in Baton Rouge.
Collins and Richbourg addressed the congregation in conjunction with the release of the second edition of CAHS’ Faith-Based Opioid Epidemic Toolkit that provides comprehensive information about the dangers of opioids and resources for the prevention and treatment of opioids misuse.
Collins and Richbourg talked about the addictive nature of opioids, gave facts about the ongoing opioid epidemic, and referenced community resources available to combat the epidemic. They also distributed medication safety materials.
Senior Pastor Tommie Gipson, Jr., and several members of the congregation requested copies of the toolkit to share with others at the church and in the community.
