CAHS Prevention and Wellness team members participated in the “Untie the Ribbons – The Roots of Wellness and Engaging the Generations” community health education event, held June 21, at Greater King David Baptist Church in Baton Rouge.

The event, hosted by the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, promoted holistic health and wellness for all ages. Free screenings were offered to provide early detection of breast, oral, prostate, skin, and colorectal cancers.
CAHS Prevention Coordinators Alicia Richbourg, PSIT, and Ricki Davis Robinson, PSIT, staffed a resource table with educational materials about substance use prevention, mental health awareness, and support services for individuals and families.
Richbourg and Robinson also distributed kits of Narcan, the medication that reverses the deadly effects of opioids overdoses, and visited with attendees about wellness and support services.
“This impactful event not only brought healthcare and education directly to the community, but also highlighted the importance of unity, healing, and proactive wellness for all generations,” said Richbourg.
