Part 2 of CAHS’ Opioid Misuse & Overdose Awareness Training was provided on March 15 to 79 nurses who work in East Baton Rouge Schools.
The training, developed in partnership with EBR Schools, included protocols for the emergency administration of naloxone, the opioid overdose reversal agent.
Nurses also received detailed information about opioids, the science of addiction, risk factors, and a presentation from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
Part 1 of the training was held previously for social workers and other student support staff. CAHS is working to implement the comprehensive training for other school districts in its seven-parish region.
