“There needs to be a public health response to a public health issue,” said CAHS Executive Director Jan Laughinghouse, PhD, LCSW-BACS, LAC, CCS, about the opioid epidemic on Jim Engster’s “Talk Louisiana” program that aired Sept. 5, on WRKF radio, in Baton Rouge.
Dr. Laughinghouse talked about the deadly effects of fentanyl, which is being added to opioids and other drugs, and she described modern treatment options, such as Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), that lessen the discomfort of withdrawal symptoms for individuals who seek recovery.
