CAHS Executive Director Jan Laughinghouse, PhD, LCSW-BACS, LAC, CCS, and CAHS Prevention Coordinator Alicia Richbourg attended the “Shining A Light: Suicide Prevention and Awareness” event on Sept 27 at the Jewel J. Newman Community Center in Baton Rouge.
Dr. Laughinghouse presented information about increased rates of suicide and how the issue is affecting families and the community.
Richbourg provided information to the attendees about opioid misuse prevention and substance misuse and distributed Medication Record charts to assist individuals and families with medication safety.
Also attending were CAHS RN Manager Maria Bates and Case Manager Kiara Chavis of CAHS’ Promoting Integration of Primary and Behavioral Health Care program. They provided blood pressure and blood glucose checks.
The event, presented by Humana Healthy Horizons, also featured several local vendors who provide behavioral services.
