Eight schools in the region are host sites for the School Based Summer Enrichment Program, designed to provide CAHS’ clients with a fun summer camp experience that also helps them prepare for success in school and life.
CAHS’ school based counselors staff the program through July, using interactive story time, crafts, and outdoor activities to connect with and relate to the children.
One popular activity includes Dr. Seuss’ book, “Horton Hears a Who!” and its theme, “A person’s a person, no matter how small,” to help the kids learn about kindness, friendship, and standing up for others.
“Recognition of others and kindness in the way we treat them goes a long way in life,” says Bethany Sclafani, LCSW-BACS, who directs CAHS’ School Based Behavioral Health Program. “Our summer enrichment program focuses on helping children develop critical life skills that help them succeed in school and at home.”
