CAHS Prevention Coordinators Alicia Richbourg, PSIT, and Ricki Davis Robinson, PSIT, represented the agency at Baton Rouge Community College’s Mental Health Monday “Chat & Chill,” held April 14 on the campus.
Richbourg and Robinson distributed free kits of Narcan, the lifesaving medication that reverses the effects of overdoses from opioids, and informed attendees about CAHS’ various services in the areas of prevention, behavioral health, and addiction recovery.
The event, organized by BRCC’s Mental Health Department and led by Tara Wicker, offered students the opportunity to win a $500 scholarship towards tuition and books.
Attendees heard from a dynamic panel of mental health advocates and experts, including ICARE Specialist Lori Anderson, gospel rap artist and CareSouth Marketing Director A.V. Mitchell, and Set Free Indeed Ministries founder Tonja Myles. Students also enjoyed live vocal performances by Mitchell and Matt “Sicka Sin” Johnson.
