CAHS Prevention and Wellness Director Bridget Lewis, MS-LPP, and Program Monitor Supervisor Yolanda Yancy, RPP, participated in the annual Southern University Employee Appreciation Day Benefits Fair, held Oct. 28 at the university.
Lewis and Yancy visited with Southern’s employees about CAHS’s services, drug misuse prevention, and the dangers of vaping, alcohol, and other drugs.
The pair also distributed a pamphlet called “Emoji Drug Code Decoded,” which covers hidden slang, common emoji translations, and other drug-dealing signals. CAHS produced the guide to help parents, caregivers, educators, and influencers detect covert online drug transactions and recognize warning signs of youth substance use — particularly counterfeit pills laced with deadly fentanyl.
The event also afforded attendees opportunities to win coveted door prizes, such as tickets to the highly anticipated Bayou Classic football game.
