CAHS’s community outreach efforts continued April 11 with members of the agency’s CAHS Prevention Team participating in the 5th Annual Senior Black American Health Fair at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center.
CAHS’ Program Monitor Tamara Jones, and Program Monitor Supervisor Yolanda Yancy, RPP, (pictured, l-r), educated attendees about the risks of prescription drug misuse and the deadly effects of fentanyl. They also provided information about how to help loves ones living with mental illness.
The event featured a “Healthy Aging” panel discussion, led by several medical professionals, and included fun activities such as bingo and corn hole games, line dancing, and virtual reality experiences. A variety of vendors also provided screenings for glucose, A1C, blood pressure, stroke assessment, cholesterol, memory, and hearing.
