CAHS Prevention Coordinators Alicia Richbourg and Dawn Collins visited the Church of God in Baton Rouge, June 30, and delivered a presentation about the opioid epidemic and the important roles faith-based organizations play in helping curb the misuse of opioids.

Richbourg and Collins based their presentation on CAHS’ Faith-Based Opioid Epidemic Toolkit that provides comprehensive information about the dangers of opioids and identifies resources for the prevention and treatment of opioids misuse.
The objective of the Recovery Sundays initiative is to work with faith-based organizations to help them examine the challenges they face and how they can help individuals, families, and communities.
“Faith-based organizations are uniquely positioned in our communities to provide compassionate, holistic care to those who struggle with addiction,” said Collins.
“Faith-based outreach is successful because those organizations reach so many people and contribute significantly to the broader effort to combat the opioid crisis,” Richbourg explained.
