Representatives of CAHS, in collaboration with several community partners, participated in the Pointe Coupee Parish Community Resource Expo, held Oct. 8 at the William H. Scott Civic Center in New Roads.
CAHS Program Monitor Supervisor Yolanda Yancy, RPP, and Prevention Coordinator Alicia Richbourg, PSIT, talked with more than 100 attendees about mental health, vaping prevention, and the dangers of fentanyl and opioids.
The pair also distributed kits of Narcan, the lifesaving medication that reverses the deadly effects of overdoses from opioids.
One of the attendees told Yancy and Richbourg a success story about how CAHS helped her granddaughter who was 16 at the time and was experiencing behavioral health issues.
Her granddaughter was helped by the professionals at CAHS’ Children’s Behavioral Health Clinic, and today she is 24 and is thriving in her field as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
