CAHS’ Prevention Team participated in Plugged In: A Community Resource Fair, hosted by the nonprofit “2 the People” on Oct. 11 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Baton Rouge.

Attendees attended workshops on financial literacy, the importance of life insurance, home buying, resume’ writing, interviewing, and healthy meal prep.
CAHS’ Director of Prevention and Wellness Services Bridget Lewis, MS-LPP, Program Monitor Supervisor Yolanda Yancy, RPP, and Program Monitor Tamara Jones, PSIT, participated in the event as part of Domestic Violence Month.
The CAHS trio provided information about the prevalence of domestic violence, the warning signs, the need for a safety plan, and how to provide support for victims of abuse.
They also talked about CAHS’ mental health services, the negative effects of social media on mental health, and the importance of family support for loved ones who struggle with mental illness. The team also gave attendees self-care planning guides, medication charts, stress balls and several other useful items.
More than 30 vendors participated, including Families Helping Families, the East Baton Rouge Parish Library, D.A.R.E., Louisiana Housing Corporation, The Life of a Single Mom, and Grandparents Raising Grandchildren.
