New app detects worsening mental state

October 1, 2022

A new smartphone app, developed through a CAHS partnership with LSU, will alert individuals, families, and treatment teams of worsening mental health conditions that could lead to episodes of psychosis and suicide. CAHS Mobile Outreach Services Program Director Paul Tuminello, LCSW-BACS, and his team will soon provide First-Episode Psychosis clients with phones that are pre-loaded with the app developed by LSU Psychology Professor Alex Cohen. “We can help clients avoid scary episodes,” Tuminello says.
