Community members gathered July 21 at BREC’s Highland Road Park in Baton Rouge to observe National T.A.W. (Take A Walk) Day, a special event dedicated to raising awareness about domestic violence while encouraging healing, hope, and community support.
Representing CAHS at the event were Prevention and Wellness Services Director Bridget Lewis, MS-LPP; Program Monitor Tamara Jones, PSIT, and Prevention Coordinator Alicia Richbourg.
The team shared information about CAHS’ services as well as specifics about the national 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, the dangers associated with fentanyl, marijuana, and vaping, and the importance of making healthy, informed decisions.
The walk’s theme, “Healing One Step at a Time,” focused on remembering those whose lives were lost to domestic violence and offering hope to survivors and to individuals currently experiencing abuse. The walk helped participants reinforce the message that healing is possible and that communities play an essential role in promoting hope, safety, and awareness.
