On April 25, members of the CAHS Prevention Team participated in the 30th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, held at the Baton Rouge Police Department headquarters on Airline Highway.
The initiative, sponsored by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, allowed citizens to drive through and anonymously dispose of unused, expired medications — preventing the improper disposal of the medications or misuse by others for whom they were not prescribed.
CAHS Program Monitor Supervisor Yolanda Yancy, RPP, and Program Monitor Tamara Jones, PSIT, provided information about medication safety as part of CAHS’ “Be a Hero, Get to Zero” campaign. They also informed participants about the services available through CAHS and the dangers of opioids, fentanyl, and other drugs.
Other participating agencies included Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and Louisiana Blue.
