First responders from throughout East Feliciana Parish participated in a special training, conducted Nov. 7 by CAHS, about the proper use of Narcan, the life-saving medication used to reverse the effects of overdoses from opioids.
CAHS staff members also distributed 588 kits of Narcan for use by the East Feliciana Sheriff’s Office and 19 fire and police agencies in the parish. Jessica Canning of the West Feliciana Parish Parish Hospital requested and coordinated the training.
The training, held in the historic East Feliciana Parish Courthouse in Clinton, was hosted by 20th Judicial District District Attorney Sam D’Aquilla, who represents East and West Feliciana parishes.
“We had a phenomenal time engaging with the first responders and community leaders, making sure they were informed about and equipped with life-saving Narcan,” said CAHS Prevention Coordinator Ricki Davis-Robinson.
