On March 4, the CAHS Prevention Team hosted its first “Driving Into Recovery” of 2023 by visiting Clinton in East Feliciana Parish and helping more than 60 families.
The Clinton event took a unique approach from previous events in six other parishes, as CAHS’ team visited with attendees of Clinton’s Community Market that was held on the historic Courthouse Square in the middle of town.
In addition to distributing drug prevention and recovery educational materials, CAHS’ employees gave free kits of Narcan, the life-saving, opioid-reversal medication. They also distributed food boxes and Deterra bags for safe medication disposal.
Several community partners that participated were Love Me On Purpose, Aetna Medicare, AmeriHealth Caritas, Priority Care, Louisiana Spirit, Pafford EMS, and the Louisiana Department of Health – Office of Public Health. The partners gave a variety of resources to the attendees, including free children’s diapers, vaccines, Medicare supplemental services, and more.
