A team of CAHS clinical and prevention professionals joined the Suicide Prevention and Wellness Expo, held Sept. 21 at Living Faith Christian Center in Baton Rouge.
The event featured 14 community resource tables, giving congregants an opportunity to connect with a wide range of prevention, mental-health, and wellness services.

CAHS staff used the occasion to showcase the agency’s commitment to education as a powerful tool for reducing stigma and sparking meaningful conversations about mental health in faith communities. Ministers received CAHS’ Faith-Based Toolkit, a practical guide to help congregations open dialogue about mental health and substance use—equipping church leaders to respond with compassion and evidence-based resources.
In a further step toward reducing overdose deaths, the CAHS team also distributed Narcan, reinforcing the agency’s dedication to saving lives and supporting families affected by opioid use.
The event underscored CAHS’ mission to form connections with communities of faith and ensure that mental health awareness and support reach every corner of Region 2.
