During the week of February 9 – 13, CAHS staff members visited the EBR Career and Technical Education Center’s (CTEC) Nursing Program to provide Narcan training for all three nursing classes, comprised of 85 students and five staff members.
The CAHS representatives provided comprehensive education about the proper administration of Narcan, which reverses the deadly effects of opioid overdoses.
The hands-on training included engaging discussions, along with a viewing of CAHS’ “Don’t Trust the Handler” public service announcement that warns against the dangers of illegal drugs and fentanyl.

The presentation also featured a video testimony from Ariel Butler who battled drug addiction and is now in recovery. The discussion deepened the students’ understanding of substance misuse prevention and the impact of stigma.
At the conclusion of the trainings, the CAHS representatives distributed 36 boxes of Narcan to support continued preparedness within the school community.
