Capital Area Human Services held a Community Health Fair on Nov. 4, from 9 a.m. to noon, at its Baton Rouge Behavioral Health location on Wooddale Blvd. in Baton Rouge, where more than 23 vendors and sponsors joined forces to help the community.
Information was provided about mental health and substance abuse treatment, and resources such as free diapers, free food boxes, and free opioid overdose reversal kits were distributed to attendees.
Additional free services included blood pressure and glucose checks, as well as opportunities to receive COVID-19 and flu vaccinations. Licensed mental health professionals were also available to provide screening and brief interventions for anxiety, depression, and problem gambling.
Sponsors included Priority Care, Smoothie King, Coca Cola, Wellcare, the City of Baton Rouge, and the Office of Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome.
Special thanks to CAHS Prevention Coordinator Alicia Richbourg for organizing the event.
