The Louisiana Department of Health’s Office of Aging and Adult Services (OAAS) held its Annual Resource Fair, Dec. 5, at the Bienville Building in downtown Baton Rouge, and CAHS representatives were on hand to answer questions and distribute educational materials.
CAHS’s Director of Prevention and Wellness Services Bridget Lewis, MS-LPP, Program Monitor Supervisor Yolanda Yancy, RPP, and Prevention Coordinator Alicia Richbourg, PSIT, provided information about the dangers of e-cigarettes and alcohol and distributed medication safety charts and kits of Narcan, which reverses the deadly effects of overdoses from opioids.
The fair was held in conjunction with LDH’s quarterly meeting that brought together local agencies in a collaborative effort to showcase community resources around the state.
The event equipped OAAS home- and community-based service providers and case managers with tools and resources to better support older adults with disabilities to increase their independence and promote safe, healthy lifestyles.
