The East Feliciana Parish Health Unit, located in Clinton, hosted the “Hope Starts Here” community event on Sept. 24, in recognition of National Recovery Awareness Month.
Community members, organizations, and service providers joined to promote awareness, support, and hope for individuals and families impacted by substance misuse and those who are in the process of recovery.
CAHS Program Monitor Supervisor Yolanda Yancy, RPP, and Program Monitor Tamara Jones, LPP, participated in the event, informing attendees about CAHS’ programs and services. They also shared information about important health topics, such as vaping, fentanyl awareness, overdose prevention, the risks associated with excessive alcohol use, and the national 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
The East Feliciana Drug & Alcohol Awareness Council, the Louisiana Department of Health, and Embracing Promise, Inc. were among other vendors that participated in the event.
